Sports Massage

Just like other types of massage treatments, sports massage aims to relax the body and release muscular tension.  But aside from these, sports massage specifically aims to help atheletes achieve optimal performance during sports activities, recover after an injury or overuse syndrome, or function well during sports training.  But one doesn't have to be an athlete in order to benefit from sports massage treatments. Sports massage also benefits people like you who may have musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, and/or restricted range of motion, allowing you to get on with the things that you enjoy doing.

Types of Sports Massage Treatments:

This particular type of therapy involves deep tissue massage and other specialised methods of treatment which has a massive effect on the human body. With regular treatment, sports massage therapy can aid in the recovery from injury, prevent injuries, promote faster recovery after sports training, and maintain a healthy musculoskeletal system.

There are four types of sports massage treatments:

  • Pre-event sports massage - a brief, stimulating massage done 15 - 45 minutes before the event. It is directed toward the parts of the body that will specifically be used during the activity.
  • Post-event sports massage - given one or two hours after the event which helps body tissues return to its normal levels

  • Restorative sports massage - given during training to allow the athelete to train harder with less injury

  • Rehabilitative sports massage - primarily aims to relieve pain caused by injury and to promote maintenance of good health
